In 2005 I was in the midst of a grueling graduate program and an unfulfilling job. On rare day off while visiting a craft store, I saw openings for a knitting 101 class. I signed up on the spot and the following week was officially a fledgling knitter.
Knitting became my passion and much needed self care over the years. When I wasn’t knitting I was reading about knitting, bookmarking knitting pattern websites, and even created a knitting club at my place of work and started teaching others to knit.
10 years and many, many stitches later I decided to turn my self care into a side hustle. I created a small business called Fire Tower Knits, and happily knit commissioned projects and small batch collections that I then sold at events I already wanted to go to!
Fire Tower Knits gives me immense joy doing what I love, and it’s generated more than enough pocket change to support my knitting habit. Creating a business isn’t all fun and games – I made several mistakes along the path to success. But now I want to take everything I’ve learned and help others become knitrepreneurs, too!
As a FTK Member, you will learn how to evolve from knitter to knitrepreneur. My courses can be completed in any order – simply start where you need the most help, and you can revisit them any time you need a refresher. I create new content every month AND we’ll have a members-only Virtual Knit-Together where we’ll talk about what we’re working on, patterns we love, sales we’ve discovered, and have a member Q&A.
